07-118 Software Developer (Architect) (Ottawa, ON) We are looking for talented software architect to join our world-class development team. You will be working with motivated and experienced developers as we continue setting the standards in networked video technology. As a developer at March Networks, you will gain experience in software technology that encompasses intelligent digital video and audio processing, real-time networking, centralized network management, integrated data and business systems, and best-of-class client user interfaces.
Duties
Development and support of March Networks’ multimedia software solutions running in embedded, desktop and server environments. Duties include:
- Research new technology and new architecture for next generation products, provide product innovation or problem resolution.
- Create architecture design specifications. Work with R&D team members and other corporate team members, such as Product Management, to determine/obtain software architecture requirements.
- As a technical lead participate in new products and existing products development, provide technical directions on architecture evolution to meet business requirements.
- Adhere to corporate technical standards and processes.
- May be required to assist with planning and tracking of development tasks, project milestones and inter-team dependencies.
- When necessary, capable of playing a role as a senior software developer and fulfill duties of senior software developer such as creating qulity design specifications, determining required development tasks and providing time estimates for these tasks, prototyping and creating software applications and/or components, etc.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering program.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in software architect role.
- Minimum of 7 years experience with the duties identified above and within the following areas:
- C, C++
- Windows, Linux
- Object-oriented design and design patterns
- Server-client applications, inter-process communication and multi-threaded applications
- Multimedia streaming and storage formats
- Database application development and integration through standard database interfaces
- Web protocols including HTTP, TCP/IP, UDP, RTP, RTCP, SSL, SOAP, networked application communication
- C#, .Net, COM, ActiveX, web servers, web services
- Device drivers, file systems, RS232, RS485 IO, USB IO, multicast, SCSI, RAID storage
- It is an asset to have the following skills: AVI file format, image/video/audio compression, VB, wireless technologies
