Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines

The Challenge
Security staff at Alaska Airlines, the ninth largest U.S. airline and the dominant U.S. West Coast air carrier, are responsible for keeping track of 150 million pounds of cargo that pass through terminals and warehouses across North America, including dozens of remote communities like Barrow, 320 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Given the distance from technical support centers, equipment reliability was a key requirement in the selection of a video surveillance system.

The Solution
The reliability of March Networks’ Linux operating system and the health status monitoring capability of the Enterprise Service Manager software keep system downtime to a minimum. In addition, advanced investigation software allows security staff to examine loss claims by tracking the flow of consignments from one location to another. Video surveillance is also used at passenger terminals and gates to monitor the loading, unloading, fueling and servicing of aircraft.
