Riviera Black Hawk Casino

The Challenge
Convinced that VCR-based CCTV products might not be available in a few years, the Riviera Black Hawk Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, initiated a phased upgrade of the surveillance systems it uses to help resolve a variety of security-related issues. The casino knew it wanted high performance DVRs to replace its analog equipment. The DVR it selected, however, had to be extremely reliable and able to pass state Gaming Commission requirements. The software had to be very straightforward as well, so casino investigators could use it with a minimum of training.

The Solution
The casino rejected two competitive DVR products before selecting March Networks digital video systems from experienced systems integrator JEM Communications. Unlike the other products, the March Networks DVR systems easily meet the minimum 15-day storage required by the Gaming Commission. In addition, March Networks software was much easier for gaming staff to learn and use after some basic training.
