Which USB to Ethernet adapters can be used with 8000 Series or 9000 Series recorders?

Modified on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 @ 9:00 AM

If SSH was turned off on your 8000 or 9000 Series recorder, you may still reach the NVR using an Ethernet to USB adapter. Ethernet connects to your computer while the USB side of the adapter connects to the NVR's USB port. The NVR is then available on IP (port 23)

The supported adapters must use the ASIX hardware chipset in order to be recognized by the Linux kernel. The following adapters use the ASIX hardware:

Plugable Technologies USB2-E100
ASIX 88172,
D-Link DUB-E100,
Hawking UF200,
Linksys USB200M, USB300M
Netgear FA120,
ST Lab USB Ethernet,
TrendNet TU2-ET100 ver. 4 (version 5 were reported not to work)

Given adapter manufacturers do not publish the type of chipset used, in order to find a supported model, you may have to buy and try.
